BVN’s design of the new Red Cross Blood Centre building opened up the laboratory areas, administrative and public spaces through the use of a large atrium facing the street and inserting a delicately detailed curving timber staircase through its center. The feature staircase is a work of art in itself and softens the otherwise white, hard space.
